A landmark of the spa town Bad Wildungen
Friedrichstein Palace towers high above the spa town of Bad Wildungen. The landmark’s bright yellow walls draw visitors to one of northern Hessen’s extraordinary cultural treasures, with its panoramic views over the landscape to the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park.
The origins of the mid-17th century baroque Friedrichstein Palace go as far back as the 12th century. The palace’s namesake, Prince Friedrich Anton Ulrich zu Waldeck (1676-1728), completed the renovation work, started by his uncle, finally during the 17th century. Today, Hessian hunting history is presented here alongside internationally significant objects such as a magnificent Turkish audience tent from around 1700.
